Wes bought a bunch of bananas that he didn't even touch for a week. They were obscenely soft and brown, so our options were to toss them or make a dish out of them. I figured this was the perfect opportunity to make Banh Chuoi. It's not something that my mom really ever made, but it was one of my favorite dishes. Our neighbor would make it from time to time and bring a piece for me to eat.
So it turned out edible and moderately tasty, but not quite right. The top was too brown, verging on burnt and the inside was a bit mushy, I think because I used too many bananas. The coconut sauce was on the bland side (I remember that it's supposed to taste sweeter and slightly salty).
I will try again next time we have unwanted bananas.. =)
